CLUB KNIVES 1977 THROUGH 2005
The first knife was issued in
1977, four years after the founding of the club in 1973. This
was the year after
the National Knife Collectors and Dealers Association chartered the
club. In
1980 the Club issued two knives: a custom folder and ladies night special
Lobster
from Parker Cutlery. In 1982 two knives were also issued by the club: a
Fight’n Rooster
Trapper, and a smoked mother-of-pearl Frost Little Barlow for
Ladies Night. Our two
knife set in 2003 included the 30th Anniversary Knife.
There have been fourteen brands
of factory knives made, and four custom made knives
as selected by the club.
These are: Case six times; Fight’n Rooster three times; KA-BAR
twice; Queen
twice; Case Classics twice; Parker Cutlery once; Frost once; Schrade
once;
August Muller (Solingen) once; Kissing Crane once; Boker Tree Brand once; Eye
Brand once; Bulldog once; Schatt & Morgan twice and three custom knives by
CCC Club
members including Ray Cook, Wayne Hensley, and John Fuller.
There have been a variety of
sizes as well. Three knives have been under three inches;
fifteen knives between
three and four inches; eight knives between four and five inches;
and, four knives over five inches.
The number of blades in the Annual Club Knife has
also varied over the years: Single
blades for nine different years; two bladed
knives in fifteen of our thirty (30) years; three
bladed knives on six
occasions; a four bladed knife once; one with knife with a fork
blades; and
finally a ladies’ knife with a file and scissors.
